Sergio Adalid Serrano

Visiting PhD Student

Sergio was born in Toledo. He completed his undergraduate and MSc studies in Organic Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid, where his research focused on supramolecular chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Luis Sánchez. During his time in Madrid, Sergio also joined GSK as a scholarship holder for one year, working in HTE and medicinal chemistry. After completing his MSc, Sergio began his doctoral studies in the Juliá group at the University of Murcia, where his research focuses on alkene functionalisation via photoactivated iron catalysis. To further develop his academic knowledge and gain experience with different laboratory techniques, he joined the Crisenza group for a three-month placement. During his stay, Sergio will explore the electrochemical skeletal editing of saturated nitrogen heterocycles.
Outside chemistry, Sergio enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with friends.
