Sara grew up between Pisa and Bologna, where she obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, respectively. Her previous research focused mainly on metal catalysis, particularly palladium and gold catalysis. She also gained experience in electrosynthesis, which sparked her interest in the field and led her to join the Crisenza group, where she aims to develop a strong background in electrosynthesis and photochemistry. Her project, in collaboration with Vertex Pharmaceuticals and the Trujillo group at Manchester, focuses on developing new C–C bond-forming strategies that exploit the reductive activation of amide feedstocks.

Outside the lab, Sara is also a musician and enjoys cooking, basketball, movies, and playing at or going to gigs.
