Josh Talbot

PhD Student

Josh was born in Shrewsbury, England, and completed his integrated Master’s degree at the University of Manchester. During his studies, he undertook an undergraduate internship in the laboratory of Dr John Gardiner, developing synthetic routes towards sugar–steroid conjugates for liposomal integration. For his final-year research project in medicinal chemistry, Josh worked under the supervision of Prof. Sam Butterworth, developing a novel photocatalytic approach to targeted protein degradation. In 2026, Josh continued at the University of Manchester as a postgraduate researcher, joining a collaborative project between the Crisenza and Butterworth groups to investigate electrochemical strategies for prodrug activation.
Aside from chemistry, Josh enjoys powerlifting, playing chess and watching football.
