Erick Pinheiro

Visiting PhD Student

Erick grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He obtained his BSc degree from Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil. During this time, he investigated the synthesis and biological activities of triazole scaffolds under the supervision of Prof. Estela Muri. Then, he began his doctoral studies in the group of Prof. Caio Oliveira at UNICAMP in Brazil. During his PhD, Erick investigated novel methodologies for mild C–C bond formation via Ru-catalyzed C–H activation. In 2025, Erick secured a prestigious fellowship from the FAPESP Research Internship Abroad (BEPE) programme to conduct a one-year research placement in the Crisenza group at the University of Manchester. Here, his research focuses on the development of asymmetric electrochemical cross-coupling reactions.
In his free time, Erick enjoys playing football (or footvolley) and spending time with friends.
